Blindness

I crossed the bridge today in my car

Traveling west, the sun behind me

Sunrise full on and bright

I checked my mirrors and there she was

Bright and blazing

Searing her image into my retinas

I had to look away

But needed to check my mirrors again

Changing lanes

And checking the mirrors a third time

She was there each time

Reminding me

That to a child of nature

Mirrors can cause blindness
