I take editing seriously and have done so since my first newspaper job in the third grade. It just built from there.

Honestly, editing is a demanding, cerebral, caring job. Editors love the craft of writing, the nuance of words, publication, and the exacting nature of fleshing out the exact sentiment using an imprecise tool.

And yes, if we could just get paid for our dedication, that would be even better.

The best editors do take their roles seriously, their reputations are bound to the work.
